My Top 10 Oils

January 12, 2017

I’ve had a lot of people asking and wondering what oils I use the most, so I decided to do a post about my top 10 oils! It was hard to narrow it down, but I finally was able to get it to my top 10 most used oils (well, sort of)! And guess what… most of them are in the Premium Starter Kit!

top 10 oils

Oh man, you guys. This has been a LIFE-SAVER. Let’s just say, I wasn’t using my oils daily last year during fall/winter and we were at the doctor’s office countless times- not to mention the multiple colds, viruses (ALL FOUR of us got the stomach bug) and other yuckies. So, this year I was determined to use this baby to it’s potential. Thieves is part of our “immunity roller” that gets put on the girls’ feet every morning and every night. When they are starting to get a little something we use it along their spine, as well, and usually an additional 1-2 applications per day. So… the test… how many times have we been to the doctor or had viruses this year (LORD, please don’t let me jinx us!)… ONE TIME. Evie got pink eye a few weeks ago- none of us were sick, so I suspect she picked it up from one of her little friends at school. You guys… THAT IS AMAZING! I am so, so, so beyond thankful for these oils, if even it were for just this reason alone.

Deep Relief:

Ahhh, this is probably one of my most favorite smelling oils. It’s also one I could not live without. This little baby is like icy hot in a bottle. It helps to soothe achy muscles and is fast acting to make you feel back to your nimble self in no time. It’s also amazing for those pesky things you get in your head that make you want to massage your temples for days. My husband has this issue somewhat frequently and he is always amazed by the fast acting power of this to knock out the aches. There is an oil similar to this in the starter kit, called Panaway that works in a similar fashion!

I was totally blow away by the versatility of this oil. I love to use it in my water for a little variety to the normal plain water, it’s also amazing to cook with when you don’t have a fresh lemon or lemon juice on hand (to be honest, I don’t even buy them anymore- because I know i can use this). Lemon is used in our immunity roller, because it acts as a detoxifyer for the body. My most favorite thing to use it for… only because we tried SO many other things without success, is to mix it with baking soda and use it as a paste to get the water spots off of our frame-less glass shower. Y’all.. sparkly clean!

Stress Away:

When I first got my kit- this was my favorite oil. Aside from Deep Relief, it is probably my favorite smelling blend. It is often called the “gateway” drug to oils- ha! No, but it’s really that good. I rub it on my wrists and behind my ears to help relieve some tension, and also, when I’m really feeeling frazzled, take a nice long inhale of it! It does wonders to get you back on track and make you feel like you can just keep it together until the end of the day!

Yet another multi purpose oil. We use this when we’re needing some extra support for our skin as well as our weary bodies. We use this in our “sleepy cream” to help everyone get a better night’s rest. Did I mention it helps promote hair growth. Every new mascara I purchase gets a drop of Lavender essential oil- because my lashes can use all the help they can get! Lavender is also a soothing oil and can help to calm nervous tension.

Peppermint is one of the oldest and most highly regarded herbs for soothing digestion. Need I say more? This is AMAZING when you’re feeling like your breakfast just might come up. It helps me almost instantly. I sometimes get car sick and all I have to do is take a nice long inhale of this, roll down a window, and I’m fixed! Peppermint is also one of my favorite oils to diffuse! Research shows that peppermint aroma, inhaled during mental tasks, may help attention, performance and focus. It also has been show to suppress appetite and is part of the “weight-loss” trio (along with grapefruit and lemon) you can add to your water!

Gentle Baby:

Ohhh, Gentle Baby! This was one of my first purchases post premium starter kit. I had heard a friend rave about it for her kiddos and knew I needed to get some! Gentle Baby is amazing for stress during pregnancy. It is also is a favorite for preventing stretch marks, and I even have a friend that swears by it as part of her skin care routine! Not only can mama use it, but baby too! Chapped bum? Rub on some gentle baby and rose ointment and voila! Cranky baby? Rub some on bottoms of babe’s feet! This oil right here, it’s part of what keeps our household together.

Ok, so this is another one I LOVE the smell of, especially once it’s soaked into your skin! This oil, as well as the below two are made specifically for kids. The great thing about them is that they need NO dilution to apply! Owie is wonderful to improve the look and appearance of your kiddos skin (ahem, scrapes, picked scabs, etc). It is also wonderful to ease and soothe irritation. Needless to say, this is a big winner in the spring and summertime!

We use this oil when the girls are suffering from some congestion and icky symptoms. It works extremely well to ease their symptoms quickly. We apply 2-4 drops on their ears, chest, neck or feet and sit back and watch them feel better! It can also be diffused, which we find helpful! Think of it as a safer version of that old school chest rub 😉

This was another one of the first oils I purchased after the kit. E had been getting car sick and we were headed home to PA. I made sure to grab this and the Orb diffuser (travel friendly) before our long trip home! You guys… I have to say, she didn’t get sick once, and hasn’t since the 1.5 years we’ve been using this while traveling. We’ve also had an episode here and there where she complains of a tummy ache, and the majority of the time, after we apply this, she’s relieved. Tummygize helps promote healthy digestion and soothes little tummies!

Runners Up (you guys, it was just TOO hard!)

This blend cleanses and purifies the air and neutralizes mildew and disagreeable odors. Cooked bacon and have friends coming over? Diffuse some of this. Towels starting to get that nasty funk? Add a few drops of this to your laundry? Smelly shoes? Smell sports bags? The list goes on.  It also helps irritated skin, who knew?! P.S. t

Peace & Calming:
This is right up there with Gentle Baby. It is AMAZING to use for cranky kiddos that just need to take a chill pill. This blend promotes relaxation and a deep sense of peace and emotional well-being. This is also one of the lovely little oils that is in our sleepy cream to promote a good night’s rest.

I hope this post will provide some insight to those interested on how oils are used in our lives and what the benefits are 🙂
