Family Sessions at Jetton Park

Jetton Park is the one public spot, as a Cornelius Family Photographer, that is still open to photographers, and thankfully it’s a good one — shoreline light, long shaded paths, and enough room that little ones can wander between frames instead of being posed within an inch of their lives.

I shoot here most often in spring and fall, when the light softens earliest in the evening. This session with this family was so fun. I especially love that they stayed true to their family style and came in their own wardrobe!

In-Home & On-Property Sessions in Cornelius

Public locations around the lake have gotten harder over the years — a number of spots that once welcomed photographers no longer allow sessions at all. So more and more of my Cornelius work happens at home: in the nursery, on the back porch, in the yard where your kids already spend every afternoon or on your personal lakefront property.

I love these sessions, honestly. Nobody’s performing, nobody had to get five people into a car, and the pictures end up looking like your actual life — which is the whole point. Especially important if you spent hours pouring over details for the nursery.

The Studio, Ten Minutes Away

My private studio and garden are in Davidson, just 10 minutes from Cornelius, with a full client wardrobe waiting — mamas, you don’t need to buy a thing. Studio sessions are where most maternity, newborn and milestone sessions happen, especially in the months when outdoor light isn’t cooperating, or weather isn’t great.
